    Unusual problem...please help.

I have a Toshiba 3055c, brand new right out of the box. After turning the machine on and hitting OK for the 'easy setup' the machine goes through the normal process of auto calibrating and setting voltages for the toners. Then, when the machine gets to the point where it does the gamma adjustments, the fun begins. For the first adjustment (copy adjustment) it will print the calibration page with the black squares at the top and the color columns below. However, when the calibration page is placed on the glass and 'OK' is pressed, the scanner only goes over about 1/3 of the page and returns to reset and the screen reads "ERROR....(not a error code) and says to attempt the scan again, press 'OK' or cancel the scan." When OK is pressed it attempts to scan again with the same result. When cancel is pressed, it asks to turn the machine off. When powered back up, it comes to the same gamma adjustment screen....it will not progress until this is done, but I cannot figure out why this is happening. Has anyone ever experienced this before?

Just out of curiosity, you are placing the test chart it prints with it face down with the 2 black bars towards the left of the machine? ie the right way?

If you are, you can reset your position in the initial run up.

Turn off the machine, hold down 0 + 8 and turn machine back on until it beeps and let go to enter one of the service modes.

    Key in code 9022
then press start. Then select from one of the following points in the run up you would like to return too. Those numbers on the left are sub codes. Once you enter 9022, enter a sub code of where u want to return too.

0: Packing mode completed (before starting to unpack)
    1: Auto toner adjustment completed
2: Installation of toner cartridge confirmed
3: Installation of toner cartridge completed
4: Forced image quality control completed
    5: Forced registration completed
6: Enforced performing of fuser thermistor correction
    completed
7: Auto gamma adjustment (PPC) completed
8: Auto gamma adjustment (PRT 600 dpi) completed
    99: Unpacking and adjustment completed

Hopefully you can get past run up!

Yes, test chart is on the glass correctly. I keyed in code 9022 and chose option 99. The system booted up normally and the main screen appeared. I tried to pass a color copy and major quality issues. I then tried to run a calibration from admin...it prints out the page just fine, however it still will not scan the page, saying "please place the chart correctly"

Bingo...the mirror underneath the led scanner was missing a clamp and was out of place a little bit. It will now calibrate.

    Congratulations. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Indeed congrats! The scanner unit was what would have been recommended to check next but your onto it

First time i've heard of that happening on the new machines though. Only wrong part i've had was on a 2555c, customer complained that the machine wouldn't duplex or would jam. Sure enough, it was and turned out that one of the roller shafts was of an new type while the duplex guide where the rollers sat was of a old type with protrusions in the middle, which would press up against and jam.
