    CD81 waste toner troubles

Hey ya'll I have a estudio 5540 that will pop a CD81 transfer roller waste toner lock, I find a little wad of what looks like paper lint and toner in the port where it starts the vertical climb to the short horizontal pipe that leads to the waste toner bottle.
Its not in the vertical pipe, but where it joins at the bottom, I have done the update of that part under the roller unit, the part with the filter in it, but has not helped, going to replace the little motor next, as it is a small motor, and maybe getting weak from the lock ups.
    Any other idea....thanks in advance

We've got a couple machines doing this once a month. It almost looks like wool, but naturally once it's coated in toner you can't tell what it is. There was been some speculation that paper quality may be a factor, but no confirmation yet.

I'll be watching the responses. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

Just a update, went back and replaced the motor, code came back, after that, few days later, day before Christmas Eve, it did it again, I tore the transfer roller waste toner system apart, pulled augers out of pipes on every one, cleaned it all out, found something packed around the augers, at the end of them, looked like paper lint, one had a look of some kind of plastic type stuff, not sure, took some pics, will try to post later, cleaned it all, wiped out the bushings, made sure all was turning freely, so far so good.

I was just curious if this machine has continued to work ok since your last post? I had one do this a couple of days ago and they called back today, machine has less than 300k on it (5540), might be a 1/4 inch of waste toner in the bottle lol!

There has been some speculation around our office that paper quality might be a factor in the "wool gathering". Opinions? =^..^=

    Re: CD81 waste toner troubles

I have seen the exact same thing several times. Sometimes I have been able to work it out by tapping the outside with the back of my driver and working it out. Most of the time I just have to tear it apart and clean it all out.

I also seem to think paper quality is a factor in this because usually the rest of the machine is also coated in a good amount of paper dust.

I thought it was paper at first, still kinda do, they use some colored paper for printing out some part of some medical reports of some kind, but after taking it all the way down, and cleaning it out, that's when I found the fuzz like blockage in there, who knows.
