Standard SATA connection and power supply.

Nothing special about hard drive physically.

Operating system is proprietory and encrypted during installation.

    Hello ockdude,

tanks a lot for your response.
    Could have some details?
Ok for the proprietory system. But peraphs that system is based on system known.
    You known whitch one?
Do you think that with hard drive in place is it possible using system and admnistrator right to browse hard drive files and see their contains?
Encryption is setup when installed according to the customer and key choose by him or by Xerox?

Thanks a lot again if you could give me more details.

As far as I know the HDD are formatted with a proprietary form of "Linux"

I personally set up the "image overwrite" feature for once a month for low risk clients, and once a week for high risk clients.

This "Image Overwrite" is DOD (Department Of Defense) quality.

So the amount of data you could retrieve, even if you could get around the AES128 encryption. Might be very limited
depending on what the tech setup in "Image Overwrite".

Most copier manufactuers have really done a pretty good job of securing thier customers data. (and limiting their own liability)

    Hello rockdude,

I really appreciate your help, many thanks.
I understand that it depends of setting of DOD.
So, how this setting could be see on the system?
I suppose that there is a particular account, administrator or for maintenance that permit to see on what parameters the system is setup.
    Could you confirm, please?
If so do you think that is possible to have the maintenance manual of this machine?
Do you think that key of AES encryption is also setup in this phase and so visible to to have a chance to decrypt data?

I am newbie and I need to learn.

    Thanks for your patience.

    Hello rockdude,

Concerning the encryption of data on disk, if it's possible, I would like to know if encryption of data on disk is optional or not.
If it is configured on demand by customer at setup of machine, I suppose that customer have to choose and then know the key of encryption.
    Am I right ?
Please this is very important to me. I need to acquire knowledge on this system.

    Many many thanks
