    Exclamation XEX-1 cmos battery replacement

    Help,
Had a XEX-1 that would not boot. When I attached a vga monitor, it was halted on cmos error. Looks to me like the CR2032 battery has died and CMOS can't be stored anymore. Is there any way to set cmos options and continue as there is no port for a keyboard and a usb keyboard does not work?
    Thanks

Just replace cr2032 and controller will boot normally.

Thanks for the reply. I already tried that.

Put a new CR2032 in and now it stops at a bios password prompt. I foolishly booted it with the cmos jumper moved and a USB keyboard attached to see if that worked(it didn't). Now it just stops at a full screen prompt asking for my current password. It may become a lesson learned moment if I can't fix it.

Check if the controller hdd is in good condition and have several partitions on it.
Also the controller can be booted from serial port using special service software named altboot.
No need to know bios passwd for these.

    Reload system software with altboot.

I don't have PWS or altboot so reloading is not an option for now. At the moment I have an XEX-1 that stops at "enter current password" and a second XEX-1 with an ethernet port that won't connect. It's going to be that kind of week.

Can I just put in an Intel PCI NIC and will the XEX-1 use it?
