Xerox DC242 with Bustled Fiery 45057733 Busted

Hi

I know this is one of my first posts and I'm already asking for help but, needs must! There seems to be no local engineer support for this older machine where I am.

We have a problem where the controller has stopped being connectable by CWS, or by using HTTP with the IP address (set by either DHCP or Manually).

The NIC on the controller is pingable when an IP address is obtained or set but CWS and the web browser just doesn't see it. The controller boots and displays the double zero that indicates no obvious problems.

Things I've tried and have made no difference are:

• Vacuumed the hell out the inside, it was very dusty.
• Swapped the SCSI cable for a known good other one
• Swapped the network cable with one tested for continuity using my RJ cable tester
• Visually inspected the Capacitors on the X3eTY board - none are leaking, blown or domed.

With this being such an old machine and bought second hand I unfortunately don't have the Software Reinstall DVD's - that seems to be my next port of call.

Does the serial port on these controllers show anything of any interest if I hook up the terminal?

Have you tried to reload the system software, If you have the system disk SW, the best way is by an USB pen drive,,,check if both dipp switches are down position.
