We have a Xerox 1000 and for some time now we have had a slight grinding noise coming from the fuser unit - eventually it ground to a stand still. We removed the fuser, cleaned it out, replaced all the replaceable bearings and reassembled it. The grinding noise is still there, seems to come from the Fuser motor (External roll motor). Today we tried again and the machine boots up but when the motor starts it still has the grinding and then the motor comes on and off, on and off... a few times untill all stops with error 10-390, which points to the motor.

I checked all the gears and so on but could find nothing bent or worn out - so this means then that the motor is basically reached end of life?

Anyone with a X1000 had the same problem?

So it seems we need a new External Roll motor assembly (as I can not find a part number for the motor only) - where could I find it at a reasonable price or perhaps second hand? Any thoughts.

Haiko
