Xerox DC 242 white lines on prints

    Hi Everyone.

I have a problem with white lines / deletions occurring across all colours. If I print out pure cmyk you can see the white lines in every page in exactly the same position.

To me this rules out devs/drums and contamination ros (unless I am extremely unlucky)

I have attached an image showing the problem and if you look closely at the transition between the edge of the solid color and the lighter colour you can see it smears at points.

Does anybody have any suggestions as to where to look next?

    Thanks
    Chris

    Hello Chrisio
check that the air duct that is below the U.R. black is not scratching the IBT,
sometimes this pipeline is uneven and generates this problem.
Another test you can do is to see if the printed image in the ibt presents the flaw or not
and thus rule out other xerographic components

Thanks - This all started from me swapping the yellow drum/dev out before which it was perfect (other than a worn drum) I removed and reinserted the drums, checked the transfer belt and I cant see anything on there that lines up with the defect im seeing.

I have checked the dust shield under the black dev and its not catching the transfer belt - I cant seem to stop the machine mid flow to catch an image on the belt but the chevrons seem to be all present and correct but then they don't seem to line up with the defects either.

It is clearly related to me swapping out the drum and dev powder but im just not sure what.

    Thanks
    Chris

    Hi Chrisio
taking the picture as a reference there is something that is scratching the image in the IBT,
possibly the yellow UR that you got this bad putting, you could also check the IBT cleaner and not have something stuck in it.
To see the image in the IBT use the following procedure:
    - pull out and disconnect the multi-purpose tray (5)
    - remove the Left Upper Cover
    - connect the multiproposito tray again
    - print the cmyk impression test
    - when the image is printed on the IBT turn off the machine immediately
    - Disarm the machine and carefully remove the IBT assembly and check where the problem is being generated.

I hope this information helps you.
    Greetings.

Re: Xerox DC 242 white lines on prints

thanks. The tech has been out and been through everything - stopped the machine mid print and the image on the transfer belt had the deletions evident. Cleaned up everything possible he could see - laser glasses all clean etc - its almost as if something is hanging down and stroking the image on the transfer belt. Nothing worked. Out of desperation we are changing the transfer belt although both of us are not 100% that is the correct course of action.

Re: Xerox DC 242 white lines on prints

    Try this way

Enter NVM location 740-009. and set to 10

(A value of 10 will stop 8.5x11” paper at the 2nd BTR Roll, with the full image on the IBT Belt)

run a halftone test pattern magenta or cyan at 30% 8.5 x 11 paper.

machine will stop with a jam paper
pull out the IBT drawer and see the image on it
maybe you can see where the white line start .it seems to be between the magenta and black development
    good luck.

at power off the nvm value becomes to nominal.
