never was a tech for the xerox corp. but i always find the set up sticks taped inside the access panel of these 3550 and 3635's. can anyone give me any info on what these are and how they work? thanks-- tuey
The plastic key was used during setup to activate the machine (otherwise would come to a hard stop around 500 copies made), the purpose was to activate it as a SOLD machine (not a RENT machine) so it can accept sold toner type cartridges.
i've resold dozens of these and they were all set up for metered toners. i wondered if these start up things might be different than the ones for retail machines and enable me to reset everything to solve my password issue. thanks--tuey

thank-you, i'm aware of that procedure - that is what i've tried to do but the password to get into system setup is not 1111, it has been changed by previous owner. being denied access to the machine due to password issues makes this a parts machine as i cant change settings or put it on a network. that is my problem but thanks for your efforts. tuey
well -i feel stupid now., that worked. i'm not as familiar with the 3550 as the 3635 but i don't think i knew how to clear that on the 3635 either. very much appreciated everyone. thank-you--tuey
i would be happy to buy you some cold beers, how close to Pittsburgh are you? tuey
