Question Xerox DC250 Magenta Toner problem

    Need some help here.

I have a DOC 250 unit that is having an issue with the Magenta Toner sensor.

About 2 weeks ago the machine prompted me to change the Magenta toner.

Normal, no issues or error codes.

BUT, when I pulled the old toner out, I noticed it was not empty.

It was about 25% full still. Odd....

So I changed it with a brand new magenta toner.

Then about 3 days later the machine prompted me again to change the magenta toner.

I pulled out the magenta toner and it was darn near FULL !?!??!

I would say it was 80% full still.

    What is going on here?

Do I have a "bad" toner level sensor?

Is there a way to "reset" an old toner cart so that I can reuse it if it still have toner left inside of it?

I am not getting any error codes, but this wasted toner is getting VERY expensive.

Thanks in advance for your help and advice.

    Reg

Do you get message on UI that toner cartridge is empty.

    1. check toner cartidge motor.

    2. check flat cable from MCU PWB to IOT driver PWB

    3. check ADC sensor assembly on magenta developer assy

check low toner sensor and toner auger due to toner block and amount toner to developer is blocked so machine "thought" low toner ..good luck

you can try to reset back the prompting toner cart - by sliding the metal plate near the gear at the rear of cartridge. this will reset the prompt & cheat the machine to treat it as new cartridge.

After resolving problm with sensor or somewhat else don't utilize old cartridges detected as an empty, disassemble them, collect remained toner and refill the half empty working cartridge in machine.

    Hi Pepper,

I am looking at the cartridge and do not see a "metal plate" anywhere

At the back end of the cart, there are two white gears, about the size of a quarter, but no metal plates to slide.

Are we talking about the same type of toner carts?

    Docucolor 240 / 250 / 260

    ??

    Thanks for helping,

    Reg

We have a similar case. First we checked the cartridge motor, low toner sensors, and anything that may relate to the problem but didn't solve anything. Finally, we've done an NVM reset and updated the firmware of the machine. This fixed the problem. You can try this but would recommend a xeroxtech to do the job. Thanks

nvm reset only for IOT only but first must jot down all developer ATC value and color registration .
