Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please.
It can also be controller power supply, machine memory, or software module. Connect the PWS to it and watch it boot it withe the Altboot tool and see which platform is failing to load. There should be 4 platforms loaded when it has fully booted up.
There is patch for host to host problem.
There are 2 patches, one for Lexington and other for Patriot machines.
Host to host USB is a communication problem from the USB in the back of the UI (monitor) and the ESS (box on the back). Make sure they are properly connected. The USB should be connected to the bottom right port on the ESS.
Otherwise a upgrade of SW may be necessary. A PWS will be needed.
Good Luck
What are the machines the software versions ?
I spoke to a tech friend who recently had this same problem. On his machine, it turned out to be caused by a bad controller cooling fan. Check to make sure your fans are working properly.
Ok i will thanks for the effort.

Looks like you have plenty of help on this one, and I don't want to step on anyone's feet but..
Curious to know why would you not install the latest SW version instead of worrying about patches?
The fact that you have multiple units that are doing the same thing raises the question about the proper installation.
I keep around 20-30 WC76XX in my inventory. Rarely do I see a USB to USB comm problem that's hardware related. That is
usually reserved for the Firewire connection. Check the proper installation and load the latest version of SW.
Do you have the USB connected to the back of the monitor?
