    Tray 1 lift fail.

Check to see if it lifts after putting some paper in.

Its not lifting up. But i can hear a motor rotation after i close the tray. It will stay on 3-5seconds then stops. But if i would take a peek on the paper, it did not lift...

i physically checked on all gears involved, all of them seemed fine. last thing noticed is that if the paper is very less, it is able to lift. But if the quantity of the paper increases, its having a hard time lifting, or almost won't lift anymore.

Remove the drawer and inspect the gears, pulleys and cables in the back of it.

Remove paper tray 1 from the machine. Extend fully then push in on the lock tabs on the rail to fully remove tray.

Remove the left side cover behind the paper trays (2 screws)

Remove the paper feed head assembly that has the feed rollers for tray 1 (2 screws pulls out from the front)

On the back side of the paper feed head is a large motor. This motor serves 2 purposes. In one direction it feeds paper. In the other direction it acts as the paper lift motor. On the shaft of this motor is a press fit white plastic gear. This gear can crack. When it cracks it can no longer properly grip the shaft it is mounted on. This allows it to turn on the shaft under a lot of stress (such as trying to lift a full tray of paper). Under less stress it may still grip and work. (such as lifting a small amount of paper)

Remove the gear from the shaft.

Using a small flat head screw driver you can apply a small amount of pressure between each teeth of the gear. Eventually you will see where the split / crack is.

You can replace just this gear. The part # is 655N00380.

Just take the new gear and slide it on the shaft. You'll need to use some pressure to force the gear all the way on so that the gear sits fully on the shaft so that the end of the shaft is flush with the outside of the gear.

Reinstall the paper feed head , cover, tray. Now you are all fixed up.

If you experience 075-210 faults, this is caused by the small lift motor gear for the bypass tray #5. That gear also splits the same way and is more common to encounter because this tray always checks position of the lift tray on power up and the gear is very small and takes a lot less force to crack (plus there are always things falling into this tray like paper clips that can inhibit the lift plate). The replacement gear for that motor is 655N00367.
