xerox wc pro 35 tray 1 out of service

tray 1 out of service : before that , we always used tray 1 paper set at 11 x 17,then we found that machine screen message , it did not recognized tray 1 paper, any sizes of paper ,
we change the setting for tray 2 at 11X17 ,tray 2 work ok , and then we swap tray 1 and tray 2 ,tray 1 now in tray 2 location, we can print out from second tray its ok , then we test first tray ,it still not working,
we change the whole set of plastic cam under the spring leaf, the result is same , first tray not working
we test tray 1 and tray cam , now the problem still there
obstruction of tray 1 any advice are welcome
    thanks

First of all, are you sure the message is talking about paper tray 1? More often I see output tray 1 out of service message and my customers mistake that to mean paper tray 1. Output tray 1 is the tray on the finisher where paper goes after being sorted or stapled. If you don't have a finisher, this is not your problem. An output tray 1 out of service problem is often caused by the ejector assembly (the part that kicks out whole sets after they are stapled). When you turn the machine on, the ejector has to do a home check and if it can not move in or out of the home position, it will generate this error.

If your problem is with paper tray 1, remove the tray from the machine and inspect the gear on the rear frame of the copier that the tray makes contact with. This is the lift motor gear. Inspect it for paper being stuck on it or breakage. Next inspect the gears on the back of the tray itself. These can break and not allow the paper to be lifted. Turn by hand and look for broken teeth.

There is no gear at the back of the tray.
The plastic cams you already changed actuates on some microswitches.
    Check all microswitches.
Also the roll feed mechanism must be firmly down on paper.
If not, you get the 'tray not ready' message on trays menu from machine status screen.

tray 1 out of service!!!!!! - never seen this error on wcpro35 or 238,45,55...
On 56xx series. There is a new design of tray1/2 casets, and this error is posible.

Are you sure you do not have " finisher main tray is out of service, copies and prints can be........................" - ( finisher ejector is bad ).

WCPRO35 is an old copier and tray1 or tray2 feeder assembly are not in good condition anymore, you need to replace it,but then you see no paper in tray1/2

    Hope this will help.

i try the way i could , i only have the service manual 5687 ,i took out tray 1 and tray 2 feed assembly ,there is an paper feed sensor, and paper high and no paper sensor ,only one on the back maybe that is not ready pin 11-12 (this will active when tray push in, the feed roller press down )pin 8,9,10 paper feed sensor, pin 1-7 paper high and no paper ,transport motor,

this paper tray 1 can not found the reason , maybe give up or replace a new one or leave it as is
