    alternate boot

    I have a wc 5655 with inbuilt network which needs alternate boot can I use the same way we do with the machine with external network controller

    No it's another version of altboot for SBC machine.
    You can reload software using usb stick but is a good practice to reload same software version and after that you can upgrade if you want.

    On SBC models it's actually easier! Grab a thumb drive (smaller is better don't ask why it just works better) make sure there are no files on the drive.
    Creat a folder called altboot slap your DLM in that folder, jab it in the copier rear end and poke the power button. 30 minutes later she will be sayin yeah baby!
    I'd be happy to come out and wipe off your dirty glass. One question however, do you also pay someone to come out and wipe your dirty ...

    Then do what kikin...... said but use same software version machine had.
    Better is to aqcuire a service manual.
