Fiery disc cloning
Hi folks,
In the past years, had couple situations with dead hdd's, corrupted softwares etc, on bustled Fiery for DC 260.
As we know DC 260 has Hot folder ability as default option, which is made active by using Dongle (one time used usb stick).
After you make it active it works until you have to change software or replace hdd. As far as I understand after that you have to buy another HotFolder activation dongle, which is not cheap at all. If not machine will work at 20ppm speed.
Now i have one machine fully working, but don't want to get in situation to buy another dongle if something goes wrong.
My question is, has anyone ever tried to make a clone of Dc 260 fiery's hdd, and was it working? Which program did you use? I use to use Clonezilla for some jobs. Could I try it?
Thank you

Re: Fiery disc cloning
I know there is a back up disc we used to use for external fierys, you can copy the software to an external harddrive, and if you fiery went down you can reinstall it from back up and all settings would be the same,it takes 20 mins to reinstall from back up rather then uploading all discs and patches, im not too sure about bustled rips though!

Re: Fiery disc cloning
Thank you,
this is bustled fiery, and there in no option to restore software that way.
External servers will work without dongle. You can restore or reload software and machine will work....

Re: Fiery disc cloning
Hot folder option is not on hdd.
You can replace hdd and reload fiery software from cd and hot folder option will stay on fiery.

Re: Fiery disc cloning
You can use clonezilla. Make image of whole hdd not of partitions

Re: Fiery disc cloning
Ok, thank you.
But why is it asking for dongle on other machine?
It was enabled and working before.

Re: Fiery disc cloning
You can use also fiery clone tool.
With this software you can clone bustled fiery hdd to usb stick and reload it from that usb also.
Because hot folder option was not installed on that fiery.
Once when install hot folder it will stay on that fiery.

Re: Fiery disc cloning
Thank you,
So you're telling me that information is stored on Fiery's motherboard, bios, eeprom or somewhere there...
And someone was messing with fiery and lost option.

Re: Fiery disc cloning
No. I think that your customer have dc260 with dc242/252 fiery.
For dc242/252 fiery hot folder is only option and machine can work without it.

Re: Fiery disc cloning
Everything is possible.
I have two customers with this problem, not in my country.
One bought new DC 260, and I suppose everything was enabled and working. But suddenly his machine started to print error sheet and work slow.
The other bought used Dc 260, dongle stick was in the usb port, but same problem.
That's way I thought that information was on the hdd...
