Stock prices of Staples and Office Depot rose Tuesday amid speculation the office-supply giants' $6.3 billion merger deal might still be alive. The gains were an apparent reaction by investors to a reported statement by Federal Trade Commission lawyer Tara Reinhart that settlement talks with Staples are continuing.
