Office Depot closing stores in Newport News and Norfolk

Office Depot Inc. confirmed it is closing its 11971 Jefferson Ave. store in Newport News and a Norfolk store on May 16. "The overlapping retail footprint created by the merger of Office Depot and OfficeMax last year provides us a unique opportunity to consolidate and optimize our store portfolio, while maintaining the retail presence needed to serve our customers," spokeswoman Sarah England said in an email. England said the company closed 165 stores last year and plans to close another 100 by the second quarter of this year.

They are doing that in this area also, only see this bringing more cartridge/toner sales to people like us. Know your market, keep it in stock, and when they call, you are there with the product needed. That's been good to us last 2-3 years.
