~ Things you Hate to Hear from a Customer ~

    "Oh, while you're here..."

    "Are you back again???"

"I need to use the machine, are you working on it?" (No...just standing here for your entertainment)

"Why is it making a noise again?"

"We need to get you a desk here!"

    "Did you bring your vacuum?"

    --------------------------------------

    Let's hear your favorites!

When they ask me about getting a desk or office there, ask them "Can I get on the payroll too?" This usually stops that conversation quickly.

Got to love it when your standing there with a fuser or something completely broken down and they are like "oh is it broke?" or "can i just make a quick scan".

My fav is "Did you bring my toner?"
and of course I tell them no, was not at the shop when I got the call, we have 3 working days to get it to them, we deliver our toner orders, cuts down on wrong toner being sent out, and I also don't like to hear the "while your here, can you look at___________"
there has been a few times it was not even our equipment, and we don't do networking, so I don't touch the network, I prove it can print with crossover cable and laptop, after that, its their prob.
And I hear, "why don't you just bring us a new one" a lot, my answer is talk to your boss

"How do we get in line to get a replacement of this old thing?"
(MFP had been there two years, and had 19,000 total meter)

answer: find a way to destroy it completely, to the point where I can't get parts to fix it, because if I can get parts to fix it, I will, and we'll be back here again having this conversation.
Or sacrifice it to some electronics god of some sort, typically involving a ritual with salt, fire, and some form of accelerant chemical.

When people ask about getting a new machine I always tell them whenever purchasing wants to approve the funds for a new machine our salesman will be happy to set them up. They usually don't like that much.

I've had a couple ask about working on other equipment but they usually wilt when they hear our non contract labor rates.

"Well our old machine used to..(fill in the blank)"

-Had some 8 year old machine, long obsolete, replaced with brand new one that runs 100x better.

99 of our 100 workstations print just fine, can you please determine why the copier won't let this one print (or scan), and my favorite, "can you setup our new workstations to print/scan", we have a service contract that should cover this". Emujo

I get "what was wrong with it?" all the time. Like a blown resistor on a high voltage PWB or a corrupted MFP boot ROM will mean anything to them.

I think this one was my biggest gripe in the field! Happened almost every week. They had ALL DAY to call in but wait until the end of the day and now it's my problem. Nice! lol

People..... I've learned over the years that customer service is by far one of the most aggravating jobs on the planet, especially field work.

I get this. A lot. Not sure why.

Also, after I get the machine covers cleaned and the glass spotless, I will sometimes get the comment "my windows at home need cleaning" or "can you come clean up my house?". I suppose it can be looked at as a compliment, but it's an irritation.

Depending on my mood level with the customer determines whether I use small words or the exact technical terminology to describe the problem.

I got that too, but I would actually explain the problem to them by breaking it down to the simplest terms as much as I could.
Funniest thing, the look of rapt attention is almost the same as the look of true bafflement. I found that entertaining. I guess just I'm weird or something.
