Shares of Briggs & Stratton were rocked Thursday to levels last seen in the 1970s, after the maker of gasoline engines and outdoor power equipment reported a surprise fiscal fourth-quarter loss, lowered its full-year outlook and slashed its quarterly dividend.
The stock BGG, +1.31% plunged 44.5% to suffer its biggest-ever, one-day percentage decline by far, and to close at the lowest split-adjusted price seen since April 1975.Comment

This has nothing to do with anything President Trump has said or done. Briggs has been on a downward slide since 2006 (WELL before Trump even Thought about a presidential run).
This decision has been in the works for years. They cite how Old the Plant is, and question if it's safe to use (the cost to fix/replace the building is HUGE). They also cite that they need to make their environmental footprint smaller. Since 2006 there has been a declining interest in push mowers (coupled with less people buying houses, and therefore having no need for a mower). Advances in the designs of new mowers (electrics and such), and just overall consolidation of Production to save upwards of 35 MILLION dollars up to 2021. They will move up to 130 jobs to their other Plant, along with the small vertical-shaft motors they make. Overall, a smart move by an iconic company. They know where they're Hemorrhaging money from, and are only doing this to Stop the Bleeding.
