President Trump announced today that the USA will withdraw from the Paris Global Climate agreement. His argument was that it was a bad economic deal for America. He left the door open for a renegotiation on the terms and conditions.

What is interesting is that the USA cannot officially withdraw until Nov 2020. One day after the next Presidential election setting up what is certainly going to be a hot button election issue.

Personally, where I live, 600 miles downwind of Boston, we are effected by acid rain polutting over rivers and lands.

Uhh..Unless my geography is way off and your posted location is correct...Nova Scotia is not 600 miles downwind of Boston...So care to try again?
... Given that this voluntary agreement was signed by Obama and not ratified by Congress ..What one POTUS does unilaterally or by EO..another can undo.

It seems all our other parties want a u-turn on Brexit if they get in. It seems they did not get the results they wanted first time so lets have another go, if the source was bbc news or something likke that I would have dismissed it entirely.

Since the wind travels from south to north along the eastern seaboard I would suggest SalesServiceGuy is correct.

As I recall, universally when one uses the prefix "down" it denotes south as "up" is used to denote north....Unless you are using these in a different context....

As the crow flies it is about 500 miles/ 750 km. Once the pollution from those tall smokes stacks gets into the high wind currents it can travel a long way downwind. Acid rain kills fish in lakes and streams and changes the soil in a bad way when you plant crops. Plus it leaves a grey soot over everything.

The USA is officially the 2nd largest polluter in the world. It use to be for many years #1 but lost that dubious honor to China's rapidly growing coal burning economy. With the Trump Administrations planned heavy cutbacks to the EPA budget and the Director of the EPA (Scott Pruit) being a climate change denier the future does not look great for the environment. At least, until the next President is elected.

Poll after poll indicates that most Americans believe that climate change is real.

What's really pissing the snowflakes off, is that there's no judge who can step in and stop him this time. It's done. There's nothing they can do about it.

The USA has approx 4% of the world's population yet generates 1/3rd of the world's carbon dioxide. More than any other country in the world, the USA has been the world's greatest polluter.

At this point, it seems that President Trump has decided to cede the position of world leadership on climate to other countries like China.

Many US states, municipalities and corporations have stated their plans to ignore President Trump's withdrawal from the Paris agreement and proceed with their own climate plans.

Even the big three US automakers have stated that they intend to pursue lowering of their vehicle emission targets as they know consumers prefer this choice. The automakers have in effect placed their bets on who will be the next President.

New French President Macron paraphrasing Donald Trump's famous campaign slogan, asks the USA "to make the planet great again".

Cheap Fox News phrases like "snowflakes" will not help the Republican party in 2018 or 2020 as the majority of the US population believes that climate change is real.

The "head in the sand" approach will only work until the oceans have absorbed all the CO2 they can and then the atmosphere will take the rest and by then it may be too late to reverse it. When some say,"the ratio of CO2 in the atmosphere hasn't risen significantly" it is because the oceans are absorbing a lot. Eventually the oceans will not be able to absorb more.
