[WTF] How do you get designjet ink off your skin?

Anyone have any insight on how to get this damn ink off? I just started tending to way more hp wide format printers and im tired of looking like an easter project everyday.

Not sure. I had the same issues on the Ricoh mpc 1500 gel printer. I purchased some latex gloves because I got sick to death of the stuff on my hands.

Have you tried Goop? Seems I remember one of the plotter techs a while back mention the stuff was pretty good at cleaning ink off of hands and covers.

Not sure about you specific ink but hair spray works great at getting ink off of stuff, it will take pen ink off of anything almost instantly. Pigmented ink dried on skin might be a challenge but it won't cost you too much to find out. Go to Target (or Walmart if you must) and buy the cheapest travel size pump you can find and see how it goes. The cheaper the better.

BTW, While you're at Target, buy a box of gloves.

Alcohol fades it a little. The rest will have to wear off. Orange oil based solvents, petroleum based solvents don't touch it. Get a soap with the grit in it. It will more quickly remove the flesh with the ink on it. =^..^=

You have to be a little careful with some cleaners, as they can melt the plastic covers. I tried a product (GooGone) to remove the adhesive left after an ID label removal, and it melted the cover; thankfully, our new ID sticker was larger that the original.
Test first on a back cover, not generally seen by the customer.

Hopefully it won't melt your hands! You may want to try it on one of your co-workers hands first.

Thanks for the responses, ive used gojo everytime. Rubbing alcohol fades it just a little. Im about to see what hairspray does. [emoji106] i feel like someone, somewhere, has a genius remedy and its going to revolutionize the copy tech game. Maybe it is hairspray.

I had always heard to put a non-greasy hand lotion on your hands before the service. I supposedly kept the ink from going into your skin and washed off easily afterwards. I never tried it. After this many years, my hands clean would probably just scare me.

Ink doesn't get on your skin, it gets in your skin. Stuff soaks in. If you want to remove the marks you're going to have to get rid of the skin.

WD40 works good for removing stains on hands, just remember to use hand lotion after cleaning it off.

Ricoh packs an individually wrapped Scrubs Hand Sanitizing Wipe in the service tech cleaning kits. I have used them on duplicator ink. Do a reasonable job. Peanut butter is also good for removing oil based stains from skin and other surfaces. Unlike WD40 does not require lotion afterwards.
