Re: Latest on the Corona Virus
Nothing will come of this, the fact that the CDC could not get access in 2020 shows China's willingness to co-operate, now there are new questions that China won't answer. They let their buddies in from the WHO and came to flawed conclusions, we should accept that cos the show is over.Comment

Re: Latest on the Corona Virus
I went and got my first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine yesterday 8/3/2021, at a local Walgreens near me, due to not having any insurance right now, and worried about the delta variant getting worse, well read over the side effects if you have not yet had a dose, my left arm hurts at injection site, felt tired most of the after noon, felt some chills, checked temp, no fever but, compared to what I have been normally running, it was up a few deg, hard to say.
My wife and son, due to having reactions to a flu shot in past, will need to be at a medical facility to get there vaccine, I told her I'd be the test subject and get it first, see what happens to me.
I hope it dont last that long.Comment

... what took so long? The news is full of people with deep regret in hospital that they did not get the vaccine sooner.Comment

Re: Latest on the Corona Virus
... it was only a matter of time.
Here’s what we know about the ‘delta-plus’ variant, already detected in U.S. and elsewhere
The “plus” of the variant’s name refers to its K417N spike protein mutation, which was also found in some substrains of the alpha variant — the dominant strain in the country before the delta variant — but the substrains never got a foothold, he explained.
The variant is alarming, as it’s related to the more contagious delta variant and coming at a time when breakthrough cases are popping up among the vaccinated.
“This is just a process of natural selection and selecting viruses that are more contagious. All viruses want to do is reproduce themselves. The ones that do become the dominant virus,” he said. “We’re going to see other variants. It’s on a continuum. The variants are likely to get more efficient as time goes on.”
... the D+ variant is alarming because it is even more contagious than any previous variant and it can quickly strike down young, healthy people.Comment

Defense Secretary Austin expected to make Covid-19 vaccine mandatory for active duty troops
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is expected to seek authorization to make Covid-19 vaccines mandatory for all active duty troops as soon as this week, following President Joe Biden's directive that the military examine how and when it could make that happen.
Austin's "inclination is towards making the COVID-19 vaccine mandatory" for active duty troops, a defense official told CNN.
If the secretary makes that final recommendation, he could seek a presidential waiver to allow the vaccine to be administered to troops before full approval by the Food and Drug Administration. A Pentagon decision and recommendation on how to proceed could come this week, several officials say.
Biden announced on July 29 that he was asking the Defense Department to "look into how and when" it will add the Covid-19 vaccine to the list of mandatory military vaccinations. Biden specifically said he knew that Austin is "open to it."
Since then, the Joint Chiefs have met to discuss how a mandatory vaccination plan might work. Austin has also been consulting with military medical authorities, the defense official said. Austin's current view is to "seek authorization to make it mandatory."

Re: Latest on the Corona Virus
... for those who want to live in the past and dwell on "would-a should-a" conspiracy theories, the world has no choice but to leave you behind. Only a small fraction of the global population is vaccinated against COVID-19, new more deadly variants will continue to appear and this pandemic will be around for many years into the future.
The new normal includes both masking and booster shots for many years into the future.Comment
