Judge Tonya Parker on Tuesday determined that the citizens of Dallas County "have and will continue to be damaged and injured" by Abbott's order amid the Covid-19 surge and ruled that Jenkins should be allowed to implement mitigation strategies such as mask mandates on the local level, to protect residents and help curb the spread of the virus

What these governors, Desantis and Abbott, etc, don't seem to understand is, they are killing off their own base by pandering to them. The majority of people becoming sick and being hospitalised are the unvaccinated, and most of the unvaccinated are Reps.

Broward County Public Schools vote to maintain mask mandate despite Florida governor's executive order to leave masks up to parents

The Broward County School Board voted Tuesday to maintain the school district's mask mandate that was originally approved July 28.

After listening to 48 public speakers and reviewing more than 350 written comments from local residents, the board voted 8-1 to keep the mask mandate in place, allowing exceptions for health and safety concerns only, according to a news release from the school division. Broward County schools started school Tuesday.

"You can't ignore this pandemic. It's deadly, and it's getting worse instead of better and the more we don't use masks, the more we position the mutation of this virus to grow," said Rosalind Osgood, school board chair, during the special board meeting Tuesday.

She later told CNN she's not willing to "risk and play Russian roulette" with children who can't get vaccinated.

Goes to show that vaccinated or not, if you’re obese, have hypertension, and COPD, you might just want to live in a bubble.
Have seen many stories like this, and they all come down to the people who died having multiple underlying health conditions and being fully vaccinated.

Yup, nothing in life is 100%. Thanks for reinforcing this fact.
However, getting vaccinated is still your best bet to prevent serious illness or death from covid. This is also a fact.

I read today that the Pfizer vaccine drops to 40% effectiveness against the Delta variant after a few months and that the Moderna drops to 70%. I'm glad I chose the Moderna.

With that being said, the data suggests that being vaccinated is the safest choice. I don't understand the pushback against the vaccine. When I was a kid, I had to get several vaccines before I could start elementary school.

The fact that the vax's haven't been approved for anything but emergency use is what is holding a lot of folks back.

Add to that the fact that the government and the news media keeps lying to us about the safety and effectiveness of the vaccines. They need to start telling the truth and regain trust. Of course that means about everything.

Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine just 42% effective against infection amid delta spread, preprint suggests

Early findings posted ahead of rigorous peer review suggested the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine declined to 42% effectiveness against infection amid sweeping spread of the delta variant, with the Moderna vaccine declining to 76%.

Researchers at the Mayo Clinic and Cambridge-based biotech company nference posted the retrospective study in medrxiv this week, drawing from tens of thousands PCR tests conducted at the Mayo Clinic and affiliated hospitals across nearly half a dozen states.

The study period analyzed samples from January to July, when either the alpha or delta variant was a highly prevalent strain; "the Delta variant prevalence in Minnesota increased from 0.7% in May to over 70% in July whereas the Alpha variant prevalence decreased from 85% to 13% over the same time period," the preprint reads.

While results indicated the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines were highly effective against COVID-19 infection (76%, 86%, respectively) and hospitalization (85%, 91.6%) the effectiveness against infection dropped by July to 42% and 76%, respectively.

In a statement sent to Fox News, Pfizer reiterated confidence in the protection and safety of its two-dose COVID-19 vaccine, and noted an ongoing "robust booster research program to ensure" the vaccine offers the greatest level of protection as possible. Pfizer intends to share the compiled data with regulators around the world in the coming weeks.

"The vaccine continues to be highly efficacious in preventing COVID-19, including variants and to date, no variant, including Delta, appears to have escaped the protection of the vaccine," the statement reads. Fox News has also requested comment from Moderna.

CDC ADVISES COVID-19 VACCINE FOR PREGNANT WOMEN

Dr. Gregory Poland, professor of medicine, infectious diseases and molecular pharmacology at the Mayo Clinic, whose name doesn't appear on the study, told Fox News: "We caution against drawing conclusions about vaccine effectiveness from a preprint study, which is intended only to be helpful to the scientific community and has not yet undergone the rigor of peer-review."

Study authors suggested several factors behind the differences observed among the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, including the dosing, meaning "each mRNA-1273 [Moderna] dose provides three times more mRNA copies of the Spike protein than BNT162b2 [Pfizer], which could result in more effective priming of the immune response."

"Our observational study suggests that while both mRNA COVID-19 vaccines strongly protect against infection and severe disease, there are differences in their real-world effectiveness relative to each other and relative to prior months of the pandemic," study authors concluded.

Researchers called for larger studies with more diverse participants to guide public health decisions, including timing of booster doses.

Do not forget that Congress has held any of the drug manufactures that are making it, the vax, free from any legal liabilities from any complications that may have been caused by their vax. What does congress know that we do not know?

If a customer calls you and says they have lines on copies and you tell them cleaning the slit glass should fix it but once onsite you discover that it is putting lines on prints as well and the drum needs to be replaced, did you lie to them? No, you were just dealing with the information on hand. Same with the govt and media. They can only deal with the information they have at any given time.

San Francisco became the the first major US city to mandate proof of full vaccinations for certain indoor activities Thursday.

City residents age 12 and older will now be required to show proof they have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 in order to enter indoor restaurants, bars, gyms and theaters, as well as large event spaces with at least 1,000 people, according to an announcement from Mayor London Breed.

The new mandate is scheduled to go into effect August 20.

Last month, hundreds of bar owners in the city said they would require patrons to provide proof of vaccination status or a negative coronavirus test result to enter. San Francisco was also one of many cities in the Bay Area to mandate face coverings in indoor public places -- regardless of vaccination status. The order affected more than 7 million Bay Area residents.

Business owners were supportive of the city's latest mandate.

"These increased provisions hopefully will expedite all public gathering places ability get back to doing what we all love -- being a space for community in service to all San Franciscans," said Casey Lowdermilk, co-founder of the San Francisco Venue Coalition, an organization looking to keep businesses safely open during the pandemic.

About 78% of San Francisco residents are vaccinated, the news release from the city said. Despite that, the city's current Covid-19 test positivity rate is 5.6%, surpassing the rate from the peak of the winter surge, which was 5.2%, the release said.
"In this phase of the pandemic, we must optimize the powerful tool of vaccines to protect us as we fully reopen to business," said Dr. Grant Colfax, San Francisco's director of health. "These past few weeks have demonstrated how important it is that everyone eligible is vaccinated as we resume normal activities."
The San Francisco health order also beefs up a state order mandating vaccines for health care workers by extending the directive to pharmacists, dental offices, home health aides and residential care centers.
