    PS5 Overheating

I bought the PS5 a couple of months ago. I've played it maybe twice. I really don't know how to play any of the games to be honest. So, I decided to play it the other day and it says it's overheating and to turn off. Eventually it will shut down.

I've cleaned the fan and all the port holes. It's in a well ventilated space. I'm at a dead end and don't know what to do. I was hoping to avoid returning it to the store. Any insight would be appreciated.

Don't be playing porn games. They cause PS5's to get hot and bothered.

Does this include soft porn, too?

Guess this fells under the warranty - if it was brand new and you used it only twice it can't be a dirt issue. Perhaps something went wrong during assembling like the cooler/heatpipe isn't placed probably on the CPU/GPU or they forgot the thermal paste.

That's the conclusion that I reached. I plan on returning to Walmart once the Christmas traffic dies down. This time of year there are a lot of returns.

Update: Walmart wouldn't take it back on exchange or any other way. Sony wanted to charge for any repairs. About $200, I think.

Out of desperation, I reset the console back to factory default and everything has worked fine since. My friend has been playing it for about 4-hours with no over heating. It was overheating in 5-minutes.

That's strange I hope it keeps working - if the issue comes back I'd take a video with my cell and try another warranty case.
Customer service at walmart seems kind of inpolite or is it according to the warranty law - I'm not familiar with it.
To me it sounds not really ok to threaten somebody with a 200$ bill if he brings back a new device with technical/non user-error based issues.

Perhaps driving around helped - we all know the "self healing miracle" phenomenon if you take something in your shop in that couldn't be fixed on site

I would go directly to the manufacturer. Waliworld has a crappy in store warranty policy for electronics. Usually limited to as little as one month.

Surely Sony give a 1 year warranty as standard!?

I just looked it up and they do have a one year warranty that they will repair any console that was defective from the factory at no charge. That was straight from the source. The other information I read was wrong. Didn't mean to lead anyone in the wrong direction. I won't be so sloppy in my research next time.
