[Annoying] Mobile phone tracking - GDPR Europe

    Hi,

we currently use Remote Tech via a web browser. Our company has informed us that this system is being pulled by the Remote Tech company and will now be used as via an App version which now contains GPS tracking.

In over 20 years we have never been tracked and of course this has angered the techs. Initially we were told that the company has no interest in tracking us, then 3 days later there is a GPS company policy being emailed to us all and advising us that GPS HAS to be on during working hours.

Does anyone have any experience of this in their company? Reading through some online posts, it looks like that GPS tracking needs to be agreed by the employee?

    tks

I have been tracked on & off for the last 7 years through devices attached to the company car.

Honestly I never gave it any thought whatsoever during the 9 hours that I was expected to work, I was working 10 or more, and never for a moment had time to do anything other than work.

When other techs complained about it, my comment was: " ... so I guess you'll have to work ... while you're at work ... right?" I have very little sympathy for screwing off. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Legally in most jurisdictions, they cannot track the phone you carry unless they provided phone or vehicle. Remember, if you are using your own vehicle and being paid mileage, they can/will use the phone tracking data to verify your mileage report.
