Re: Dumbest feature ever on a copier.
On Ricoh's MPC range, they have a button on the right of the display, that if pressed makes the display buttons bigger - problem is that when this happens, half of the buttons disappear with it! If some ignoramous presses this, he then calls in to say that he can't find the check modes button which is usually along the top edge of the touch panel display! ARGH!!Press the GREEN button!!Comment

... simple ... that's accurate. Just like the users. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

The worst part is that the screen stays in that mode even when re-powered.
We probably get a dozen calls a week for that wonderful little "feature".“I think you should treat good friends like a fine wine. That’s why I keep mine locked up in the basement.” - Tim HawkinsComment

Re: Dumbest feature ever on a copier.
And its not only the customers that get confused by that button, I've had field techs ring in asking if we have a spare op. panel as the screen on the copier their working on has just gone "funny"At least 50% of IT is a solution looking for a problem.Comment

Re: Dumbest feature ever on a copier.
Ricoh's @Remote service call feature... "A succession of paper jams... Press here to call for service." Except it never does and I get a call from a pissed off customer who thinks they placed a call 3 days ago.
...it's also supposed to automatically order toner when the machine says its low, and thank god they disabled that little jewel.73 DE W5SSJComment

Re: Dumbest feature ever on a copier.
We have a CS-250ci that has paper drawers set to paper type. We set the fax to use plain paper but, when the fax confirmation prints it does it on the invoice paper. After speaking to Kyocera it seem that even though the confirmation is part of the fax, the engineers classified it as a report and therefore prints out as the default for the printer which in this case in on their invoice letterhead.Comment

Re: Dumbest feature ever on a copier.
Guaranteed to have aggravated customers who can't seem to get toner - either because their machine won't order it or it's on permanent backorder because somebody else's machine keeps ordering them a closet full. Might do us some good if Ricoh keeps the toner bounty though.73 DE W5SSJComment

had sitting on the shelf and offered a $2 bounty for every cartridge we bring back. I might start marking a few toners to see how many times they get sent out to customers with the auto ordering system only to be brought back by the tech the next week.At least 50% of IT is a solution looking for a problem.Comment
