    Re: Rant for the day

Back on the original topic, high tech crap, when I worked for the other company, used to have a cust. that had a revolving door, not just a regulat one, this was a auto-matic revolving door, if you went though it emptyhanded it was ok...try it with a tool bag, toner vac, computer bad, ect...it seemed then to slow way down or stop for some reason, I started to use the regular door next to it.
Just for grins, I came in though the revolving door, tool case in hand, it slowed down, got in, sat it down, went back though, worked normaly...staff there had no idea why, I am no longer with that service company, or even work that area

I heard that happened because two refineries had to totally shut down because they had to set up the required summer blends.
So I'll blame this on those dopes that require the change in fuel formulation between summer and winter, because that is the stupidest thing.

I knew it, the storms in Texas knocked out the Kansas refinery.

It rained last night in Texas, that might have something to do with the gas increase. You know, getting umbrellas in case they had to leave there desks and actually do something. Whoever "they" may be.

The oil companies are the modern-day version of the tax collectors in early Rome... they charge what they want, and everyone hates them.

And copiers in the tightest space. Desk one side, filing cabinet the other side. The only place you can work on it is the the middle of the walkway so you're constantly moving the machine to let people through! And they wonder why it keeps overheating

I hate copiers in hallways in hospitals. Like an Ricoh 2051, when the door is open it blocks the entire hallway.

I hate the shelves too close to the machine I am working on.
Third time hitting it, I want to pull it off the wall and throw it across the room.

Hey Gene, Just a thought. The next time you go back to this place, take some MX drums and kits with you and rebuild some of them while it does its flushing. Dustin will be happy, happy. Like the Duck Dynasty boys say.

Why do we need high tech equipment in the bathroom? Had to make a pit stop today and they had one of those stupid hand swipe activated electric towel dispensers which of course didn't work, like most of them don't. The auto flush urinal was out of order. Then I remembered that this was the same place where I was once sitting there doing my business and for no reason the auto flush toilet decided to flush. All I could do was sit there and hope it didn't clog and run over. Then a few seconds later it flushed again. I decided to keep track of how many times it would do that, since I really didn't have anything better to do right at the moment. I got tired of counting after 18 flushes. Way to save water, nimrods.

What's wrong with just having a handle, that seemed to work pretty well for a lot of years. And if you can't make towel dispensers work, put a pile of paper towel on the counter.

    Ok, rant over.

Glass stories? I have one, but not from my days as a copy tech.

I was a young lad of about 5, playing tag with a friend of mine... I wasn't exactly the tallest 5 year old, as I had to reach up to the fullest extent of my arm to reach the door handle of a typical screen door. Well I was running in this instance, and I happened to miss the door handle, sending both of my arms straight through the mid-section glass of this particular door and the screen... I've still got scars on my wrists and a piece of glass permanently lodged in my left one. By now it's broken so many times over it's a pile of dust sitting under scar tissue that likely won't be coming out.

I had gone out to the car several times. The entryway was all glass, a center glass panel with doors on either side. on the way out the third time I chose a door ... well ... a door that was not a door. I returned to consciousness laying on the ground, looking up at concerned faces, and no clue what had happened. Two weeks later I was there, and that center panel was shattered. Apparently someone had struck it harder than I did.

    =^..^=
Did something similar only a month or two ago. The place was an electronics store. They had a fixed full length glass panel to the side of the main door that was just cleaned nice and fresh. I was racing from the store checking my receipt and change an I just looked up in time to see a full sheet of solid glass at the tip of my nose. Whooaa... I back back and went through the open door.

I didn't mind the people in the store looking weird at me, but at the same time I had the company logo stamped all over my clothing.
