    Copytechnet Web App

Copytechnet can now be accessed as a web app directly from your mobile device's home screen. It is not a true mobile app so you don't need to deal with the app store but it allows the site to run without the extra distractions that come from a mobile browser experience. Experience Copytechnet in full-screen, fully functional glory without the distraction of browser tabs, address headers, and other wasted space. Install is easy,

Android/Chrome: Open Copytechnet in your mobile browser, click the three dots in the upper right to open the menu, then select "Add To Home Screen"

iOS/Safari: Open Copytechnet in your mobile browser, click the share button, and select "Share To Home Screen"
(I am not an iOS user, my iPad is way too old to support this so if an iOS user wants to post more specific instructions I will update this post.

Looks good, I don't see any adverts, even with private dns set to auto.

Would be better if the message font was a couple of pixels bigger.

The no ads part is linked to VIP status, I agree on the font size. I'll see if it can be bumped up.

iPhone 13 w/iOS 17.5.1: Loaded copytechnet.com in both Firefox and Safari browsers; curiously, both browsers required required copytechnet.com Logins twice. Can't find a share button with either browser.

More than likely it is the iPhone that is causing the problem. I have no problem with my laptop or with my Galaxy.

Thank you for the directions. Works great with my iPhone 13. I now have the app on my homescreen.

What browser did you start from? [Safari is default, but I don't see a "Share to Home Screen" (or any other "Share") button. Likewise for Firefox.]

patterson70 is talking about putting the app icon on a page of his iPhone home screen. Same thing applies if you are cellular device. If you are using a browser on a computer you do not need an app. Just put a link to the CTN Forums page in your Bookmarks/Favorites/Shortcuts which ever your browser uses. If you use Firefox you can Sync Bookmarks and Passwords across Firefox on all your devices.

Yes, I used Safari. The "Share" icon is the square with the up arrow on top of it.

Thanks, but where does he get this icon? (Aneurysm began this thread by saying click on the "Share to Home Screen" button - which, again, I don't see.)

... If you are using a browser on a computer you do not need an app.
I would have thought so, too, but Aneurysm said the point is to "Experience Copytechnet in full-screen, fully functional glory without the distraction of browser tabs, address headers, and other wasted space." That's what I'm trying to get at.

Just put a link to the CTN Forums page in your Bookmarks/Favorites/Shortcuts which ever your browser uses.
Yes, I have that. That just gives me the site in the browser tab. The question is, What does the web app look like?

If you use Firefox you can Sync Bookmarks and Passwords across Firefox on all your devices.
Yes, thanks, I do, but don't see this "Share" (or "Share to Home Screen") button on any device, and don't understand the meaning of "home screen" on a laptop OS (Linux or Windows).

That said, even though I share operation between laptop and phone, there are differences between the two that go beyond the difference in mobile rendering -- for example, VIP/ad-free operation on the laptop, but lots of ads on the phone. I'd love to know why/how that works, but the difference has not been a priority until now, because the phone experience has been inferior anyway. The new web app may change that calculus.

After I pressed the "Share" icon I had to scroll up from the bottom and choose something but I forget what. It might have been the "Share to Homescreen" option. I can't get it to do it right now again.

John Kaufmann—This is a mobile device/browser feature. It gives you faster access to the site directly from your mobile device's screen vs. opening a browser and browsing via a bookmark. It opens without the typical browser address bar to get more screen space. Other than that, it's nothing life-changing.
