I have a lot of the Airgo/high gear equipment for my family camping trips. I might just add this to the collection -

I definitely don't want a hard case. I'm looking for a soft backpack. That Swissgear 3636 looks nice.Leave a comment:

Looks like the "Chiffons à poussière Chicopee Stretch’n Dust" is available in France, gonna order a bag to try.
"You can get 2-propanol which is IPA in Europe."
I already have a bottle but I've never use it, I everything with glass cleaner or platenclene.
Like, I also have a brush but I've never used it for the last 14 years.Leave a comment:

Sure we're only using 20% of our tools daily, even less, but when you need THE tool, and it's not on you, you regret it.
But yeah my backpack is way too heavy with everything I carry.
Fun fact : for our training, Epson gives us the minimum tools to repair almost everything, and it's in the smallest fishing rod bag they could find (smaller than picrel)
"a small bottle of IPA"
Instead of a lagger ?
"toner cloth"
Looks like it's illegal in Europe ? I can't find a single seller, I've found the "tonerclene" from AF but they've remove any reference on their website.these are the "toner cloths" we get them from Katun . image.png

I've discovered that I don't need all the tools that I've been carrying around, wrecking my back/shoulders, for the last 40+ years, I have an A4 zipped document case, in which I have a long philips screwdriver, a short flat bladed screwdriver, tweezers, scalpel, cutters, snipe nosed pliers, a small bottle of IPA, a small bottle of platenclene, a magnetic torch, 2 toner cloths, and 2 cleaning cloths, a spring hook, a black felt tip pen and a brush, also a rubber/eraser. I have been using just these items for the last 2 years. Wish I'd realised that years ago - though when I started most things were mechanical, and totally different tools were needed

I still use a Platt hard shell case when I have to go out. If I was doing calls daily I would have a soft case and a hard case. I bought a Platt soft case 695ZT but a new tech latched on to it two years ago when he started.Leave a comment:

Cat is showing his age. I also use a 9" hard case made by Platt. These types of hard cases were only choice for tech tool cases back in 80's. I keep saying I'm switching to a soft shoulder case because I don't use 3/4 of the tools in my bag but you can't teach an old dog new tricks....👍 3Leave a comment:

You won't like my choice. It weighs #38, but the weigh never bothered me. It's an 8" deep hard-case. It's rode with me since 1997. I've replace the handle and latches once, and replaced most of the aluminum rivets with 8-32 RHMS. It will probably outlast me.
Here's the most recent version ... lol, 1/2 the price I paid for mine in '97!
