Now that I'm authorized to sell the latest Kyocera MFP's, I've been going over the numbers with my sales rep. I'm talking about how much it costs the dealer per page and how much we need to charge our customers.

Here's the numbers I have on the Kyocera TA-3554ci

Dealer Cost Mono: .00443
Suggested Price Mono for customer: .01239

Dealer Cost Color: .01786
Suggested Color Price for customer: .04215


I'm curious how those numbers line up with what other's are paying/charging??

Are you considering tiered color billing? We always know when we are quoting against a Kyocera when we are asked if we offer tiered color billing.

I have one customer that I have on tiered billing. I'll only use this option in a competitive situation because it can be the difference in winning and losing a sale. Especially if the potential customer is doing a lot of "spot" color.

With all of that being said, I find the billing the customer to be a real pain.

We used to bill an annual maintenance based on the expected annual usage that included supplies, scheduled parts and expected labor. Meter charges were billed quarterly based on the portion of the annual usage that occurred during that quarter. any overage was then billed on very similar rates to what you mentioned.

I always thought tiered coloured billing was to up the price, because whether your doing 1% or 10% your still running out the life on your maintenance items.

However, if customer is doing 50% coverage your losing due to lower cartridge yield. I find it really bizzarre customer would request this feature.
