    Non compete

Just wandering if companies are still making techs sign non-competes and if they hold up. Our company has been throwing around the idea. Never have had to sign one.

Yes they are still asking you to sign... I'm currently have one with my current company... Depending on what state you live in they may not be enforceable it is best to check with a good employment attorney before you sign off... Take my advice, really do your research before signing one, my former employer took not only me to court but also my new employer to court... I got lucky my Judge told my former employer, "I will not enter an order denying the Defendant the ability to practice his profession" .... We ended up settling out of court...

Worthless with technicians and basically unenforcable. With sales enforcing one is still a longshot at best. We had a competitor send us several threatening letters over a salesperson we hired but that's all they were was empty threats.
