Customer (a department in a higher learning institution) is using department IDs on their Canon iR Advance units to track copies but NOT prints (go figure). There does not appear to be a method on the Advances to accommodate this (IDs only for copies but not prints), I though "well, Driver Configuration Tool might help here". Nope, it won't allow a value to be placed in the department ID section, just pre-enable it. Value fields are grayed out.
The department prints directly to the copier from each workstation, not via a print server (where we might be able to insert a bogus ID number for all print users). The 200+ end users will NOT take an instruction from an email to open up the driver and insert the bogus ID number (this is university, remember?). IT would be happy with a registry hack that could be pushed out, if anyone know where the department ID field is located...
Any suggestions?
