Router went bad @ the Office, They think I should be able to fix it

We had a netopia dsl modem router go dead that was apparently bridged to a Linksys with a DMZ config. I got it back up @ the office with an inexpensive netgear modem router but it seems there were two routers with some sort of DMZ configuration that enables the owner to access his PC from home using PC anywhere. I can't figure this mess out as the old router is a brick that I cannot see what the original config was and can't get the netgear bridged to the Linksys to support a DMZ config. I love it when our customers spend the money for our expertise to professionally get their equipment set right. I hate it when we don't.
