authenticate smtp server on NEC IT-2840

I haven't had to do this in a long time. The customer changed providers and now is required to authenticate the smtp server which they weren't doing with the old ISP. I believe on this unit you have to change the soft switches to turn on smtp authentication. Does anyone know if this is correct and which soft switch is the correct one?
