Re: Data light flashes
I would also look for an IP address conflict.
Turn the machine off then try to ping it.
If it pings you have a conflict.

Re: Data light flashes
One other possibility that I have encountered is an intermittant network switch problem. Put another printer in that location connected to the same cable. If that machine has the same problem, then have the customer's IT people replace the switch.Leave a comment:

Re: Data light flashes
IF IT IS A USER CODE ISSUE... it will flash several times and then go out!
BUT!
If someone tries to print a web page with HTML AND ROLLING BANNERS made with Flash/Java, the banner CAN/WILL corrupt the print job!
It's almost as if the print driver, when given a job with Flash or Java embedded, will have an EPIC BRAIN FART and will
get stuck in an ENDLESS LOOP!!!
So, FWIW, tell the client to copy all the text they want to print and paste it to Notepad or a text based document program.
If there are inline pictures, they should copy and paste fine too.
Good Luck!Leave a comment:

I would check to see off they were ever using user codes for printing this can cause this problem.Leave a comment:

Re: Data light flashes
Corrupt data, happens a lot with Ricoh. If the firmware is indeed up to date, then there is nothing you can do. Check the SC history, you will see a lot of SC899 or 9xx when this happens.
You could try clearing the Printer Application, to see if that helps, and as a last resort try a new controller.Leave a comment:

Data light flashes
Hello all,
I have customers at different locations that have this issue: Sometimes when they send a print job the data light on the MFP will just flash and never print. The data light never goes solid and it just sits there processing and flashing. The customer has to delete the job and then reboot the machine to get the print job out of the que. I have noticed that every time this happens there will be no file extension in the diplay. It just says "Printing" with nothing next to it (such as Word Doc, PDF, etc.). Any clues? I use the PCL5e, sometimes PCL6 or PS if MAC. Firmware is always current. I work on Ricohs, by the way. Most of these issues are on the MPC's.Tags: None
