Connectivity, wireless router or my Ricoh Image Scanner is200e

I have a Ricoh Image Scanner IS200e. It use to work perfectly fine until recently. It is connected to my wireless router, Netgear WNDR4500,. My problem is when I go to scan and finish it hangs. So I have to shut if off and on and try again. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't so I just reboot my whole system. Shutting down the moden (cable), and my netgear. Then it sometimes works.

So IS the problem my router and I need a new one or the scanner? What can I possibly check and do to make it work again?

(I apologize if my thread is in the wrong place)

Thank you for any and all help.

Hook directly up to your computer with a crossover cable, manually configure ip for scanner and computer. Test scan to your computer (scan to smb folder?) to see if it works. If it does, then you are having router issues. If not, then it could be scanner issues!

    Good Luck!

      Agreed.
Also, you say 'wireless router', but am I right to assume that it is actually hard- wired to the router? If so, it could be as simple as a 'sketchy' port in the router. You could try another one, and also another cable.
As mentioned above, connecting directly to your pc/laptop will help isolate the problem. I would just add that a crossover cable is no longer required for direct connection on any newer computers- basically win7 systems onward.

Yes it is hard wired (Ethernet cable) to the wireless router and I have switched it around. I will try another cable, the cable is fairly new though. Will connect directly to computer (yes windows 7).

Also my printer stalls occasionally too and it's connected to the USB on the wireless router as well. But i just have to reboot the printer and it will start working (printer is older 4350 HP)

I will report back. Thank you both

Sounds like the problem is most likely your router.

My Linksys router started doing similar things a few years ago, including dropping my VPN connection routinely.

It drove me nuts until I replaced it, then life was good.

It seems that these SOHO (small office and home) routers only last a few years before they get wiggy.

Before you pitch it, though, see if there is a firmware update for it, quite often there is. Even if it's the same version, flash it anyway...no different than you would approach it if it were a copier.

Yes I have noticed that my lap top would say disconnect, connect in the lower right hand. I just thought it was because tons of people (in the neighborhood shows up when you choose yours) It has been a few years since I bought this router. I will try to connect direct to computer but now thinking of all the little issues it may be the router. Any advice on a wireless router with 2 USB connect (for my old printer and external drive) Thanks
