I am new to this forum and could use some help to be able to print from a computer to a IR105.
I was given this machine, it is in great shape, as I am opening my own little copy and print place.
I have the original cd's and manuals. I have plugged in the copier and the M1 fiery and connected them. The fiery boots up and I can print test pages and logs from the button on the fiery and when the copier powers up it prints a test page. It copies from the glass well.
I want to be able to connect a computer to this machine and print files from a usb on the computer at minimum. I have a windows 10 laptop, a vista machine and several xp machines, I could hook to it. I went to canon Europe and downloaded windows 10 drivers for 64 bit or 32bit PCL and PS. I did connect an xp computer and tried installing the drivers from the cd and attached a parrallel cable and tried printing a wordpad document. The copier acts like it was going to print as "everything starts" then it 'times' out. It appears the jobs are going to a que. I tried using the Ethernet cable and got nothing as I recall.
So here are my questions:
1. Does it matter the computer hooked to it? I prefer to have a win 10 and use the Ethernet connection from the computer.
2. Is there a more thorough or explanatory guide to setting up this machine than the setup guide?
I am sure some of you have answered this question many times. I need the help but don't want to waste anyone's time.
3. Where can I go to find out how to get this machine fully setup. IE scanning and it appears that double sided copying from the adf isn't on or maybe it doesn't have that feature.
4. Do you think this is a good machine? I am trying to get a year or two out of it as I am starting my business. Spotless machine, good service record 1.3 million clicks
5. I want to properly maintain the machine are there any PM guidelines. Since this cant go on a service contract.
6. Are the more advanced finishers worth it? I can get a used saddle stitch booklet maker for it. I make little folded booklets for clubs and churches.
Thanks in advance
Any documentation on how to get this printing from a local computer would be greatly appreciated.
