Re: 400if won't recognize letter in tray one
I'm working on a 400if that recently just switched the paper size settings in tray one to legal. I switched out the sensor on the rear deck and it did not solve the problem. If I change the guides in the cassette it will recognize any other paper size (A5, Statement, etc), but when the guides are set to letter it shows it as legal. I've tried to initialize the copy settings, I've switched cassettes, changed sensors, and ensured everything is seated properly in the wiring all with no luck. I'm totally lost.
It will pull from the tray and if I set the paper size to custom size 8.5x11 it works fine. It just won't read that there is letter sized paper in the drawer.
I think your problem could be the paper size detect unit PART #FM4-6571Leave a comment:

Re: 400if won't recognize letter in tray one
I've had a few of these, in my case it was the wiring to the sensors at the back of the cassette bay, the sensors were fine. The wire harness will likely have a broken wire near a tie wrap, in most cases the tray will read lgl. You need to remove the cassette, and back cover, remove the plate with the sensor housing and unplug it. You'll likely find the damaged wire there.Leave a comment:
