    [CQ] irc 2380 repetitive defect

    hi all from italy.
just went to see an irc2380 with a thin black line near the top of the page.
It seems to be repetitive, so before go on and change anything (opc, transfer and so on) i'm going to ask if anyone here can leave a repetitive image table reference for this machine.
in the service manual there is nothing about this.
if my measurements are correct the defect is repetitive at about 95mm lenght.
    thank you all.
    Luigi.

Can't help you with the ref. chart, sorry...
95 mm means its a roller app.30 mm thick. Could be sec. transferroller or a pressure roller in the fuser.
Have you tried a halve-way print yet ?

      not tried the half-way printing.
The machine has all the counter messed-up (K drum is at 195% and fuser is at 224% of the expected lifespan).
i was thinking at the K opc drum.
the line is very thin at the top of the page (it is oriented at the back of the machine while outputting the paper)

Counters don't have to messed up. Got a 3580 here going on 235% on the fuser w/o problems.

Remove the drum and just have a close look, prob. You could see lines if its the culprit.

Run a check on single color test PG 5 Print-

          in service mode
          COPIER>TEST>PG>TYPE
Performs test print when test print type number is entered and start key is turned ON. (This setting must always be restored to 0 after making test print.)

          First select>
          #5 = Full-sheet half tones

          Then select>
          DENS-Y/M/C/K
Used to adjust density of each color for test prints (TYPE = 5).
          Setting values
0 to 255: Increasing the value increases the density.
          [Factory default/After RAM clear: 128]

          Then select>
          COLOR-Y/M/C/K
Used to set output of each color for each TYPE.
For example, to set single-color M output, set "COLOR-M = 1", and make the other settings 0
(only single colors can be output).
          Setting values
          0: Don't output
          1: Output
          [Factory default/After RAM clear: 1]

          Then select>
PG-PICK =Used to select output level during test print output.(pick LETTER Paper LOCATION)
          Setting values
          1: Cassette 1
          2: Cassette 2
          3: Cassette 3
          4: Cassette 4
          5 to 6: Not used
          7: Side deck
          8: Manual feed
          [Factory default/After RAM clear: 1]

Hit OK to send TEST PRINT / Make sure settings are returned back as shown to default.

OMG, pg5 or pg10 is so obvious to me I totally forgot
But it doesn't have to point to drum or fuser, could still be either. I like doing the half-way print for that....

96mm is typically the drum. Have you looked at it? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
              1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
              2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
              3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
              4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
              5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Typically the fuser sleeve on this model won't produce a think black line, i'd say 99% that the drum is your issue.

But what has also been suggested take you copy & match up the line on the page to the line on your drum.
