    Incorrect size/setting on MF8350Cdn... HELP!

This customer can print to their Canon ImageClass MF8350Cdn and it might go 2 pages or 25 prints before it stops printing and displays "incorrect size/setting". It can be forced past it (for a few pages) by opening the tray or going to paper settings and hitting "ok". She said it also does this copying. Has anyone seen this and if so what can I do to resolve this issue. Canon was VERY helpful by putting out bulletins saying that it may be a wrong paper size or setting??? REALLY??? Didn't see that one coming....

The paper size is set up in the menu so it knows how to print on the paper , a wrong setting message is usually sent by the drawer usually a set of switches set off by where the backstop of the paper cassette is positioned. usually on the side of the cassette. The other thing that can do this is a sticky solenoid or some other reason the machine fed an extra sheet of paper. that's the 2 reasons you may see that on the display, Any blank pages coming through when this happens???? GOOD LUCK

there is also possibility that you have to change the pick-up roller. there is a new version available with white "clip".

that causes incorrect paper size in some similar models

Loss of grip on the pick-up roller was the cause in my case. It did not even require replacement of the roller, just cycling the rubber band on it to a new spot. There is a superb video that steps you through how to do this:

Still relevant: I came here looking for a solution, and did not find a good one. I went to the time and effort of registering so I could help others find what I did.

I don't see this as a case where creating a new thread is a better solution, even though this one is old.

I'm posting this as I interpret your reply as a criticism. If it isn't that, I don't know how it helps anyone. (Even if it is a criticism, I don't see how it helps anyone.)

kind of a rule around here... if there hasn't been activity in a thread for 2yr + it is deemed DEAD.

don't get your feathers in a ruffle.

have you read the forum rules?

there is also a FAQ thread you might find useful.
