Hi everyone.
I bought a second hand IRC 2550i (230volt) , and I've been trying to get it to work.
Initially I had random errors so I followed the great advice on here to pull, clean and rerack all the sub pci cards and ram on the main board. After doing this, the printer actually started up normally.... only once! After it had started up it gave a false warning of the front panel being open and then the side panel being open, when they were closed. There was also a message about the waste toner being nearly full. After turning off the Main power on the printer, it will not turn on.
It will not warm up when I switch on the power. It halts almost immediately after switching the power on with either error message 227-0001 or 227-0004. On some power ups, I hear the reader start for a split second then stop. On some power ups, it never makes a sound. This difference matches up with the 2 different error codes I am getting, 0001 or 0004.
All of this seems to point to a problem with the low volt DC power. I have cleaned just about every connector I can get to with the exception of the DC board UN1 and UN2 below.
I've read all the posts I can find about this error and I am still having problems sorting it out.
I haven't been able to find a 2550i service manual, but I do have the SM for the "iR C 3380/2880 series" which references the 2550 in a few parts. I also have the parts catalog for the 2550i. I am having some issues matching part numbers from my PDFs with the actual boards in the printer.
I am a complete noob with this size copier/printer so I would like to ask the experts for a bit of help.
I have read that disconnecting and re connecting the low voltage power supply can help with this issue. Is that connection problem on the boards UN1 or UN2 underneath the FAX pcb? or is it on the bottom right UN12 board?
Sorry, that was a lot of info......So in summary here are my questions
1 )I saw a post mention to check door switches. What would I be checking for? resistance?
2) which pcb/power connections to clean ? would cleaning up UN1 and2 have any benefit?
3) Ram SODIMMs on the main board. I have 2 DIMMS which I think are 1GB and 512MB. Does it matter which slots they are in? should the Larger DIMM be in the top slot?
Thanks!
