    Inbuilt calibration not finishing c7055

Finally fixed all the problems with my machine and I thought I would run the calibration on the fiery - it prints the a4 sheet ok and asks me to place it on the glass etc. At this point I get an error message stating that calibration sheet was not found do I want to try again.

I have tried it various positions on the glass to no avail. Does any one have any suggestions?.

    Cheers

Are you also using the Tiffen scale sheet that comes with the Fiery?

      Nope. Is there another sheet?

I am just going into the calibration screen on the fiery a d following the prompts.

The printer prints a sheet and then asks for that to be put on the scanner it doesn't mention anything about any other sheets.

      Cheers

When calibrating the Fiery using the ColorCal Measurement page on the copyboard glass, the copier indicates that the "Measurement Page is not detected".

        Don't need Tiffen Scale.

        1) Put the customer's imagePASS A1 on a known working machine and the ColorCal functioned normally.
        2) Put the customer's ColorCal test page on a known working machine and the ColorCal functioned normally.
        3) Put a ColorCal test page from a known working machine on the customer's machine and it failed.

Step 1 rules out the imagePASS A1.
Step 2 indicates the the paper alignment and color density is good because it can be read by another machine. This rules out the customer's print engine.
Step 3 the density of the ColorCal page and alignment has to be good if it can be read by the working machine.
Steps 2 and 3 confirm that the problem is in the non working machines scanner unit.

Solution: The scanner optics were dirty. Cleaned the scanner optics and tested, the ColorCal functioned normally.
Note: Even though the scanner optics were dirty, there were no other indications of this because the copies off the glass looked normal (no shadows or back grounding).

Caution: Be careful not to scratch the surface of the mirrors. Some of the mirrors are thin, so be careful not to crack them.

Need Tiffen Gray Scale Or Kodak Gray Scale

          See pictures link-😎

Tiffen Q-13 Color Separation Guide Small, Exposure Guides & Meters - Google Search
          -

          Calibration Procedure

          1. Clean/Adj optics. Clean/inspect optics and white plate/roller. Perform CCD Adj. Some older machines will be CCD Adj (without paper) and newer machines will be DF-WLVL 1-4 with good quality white paper.

          2. Perform Full Auto Gradation. Now that the optics can properly read the data calibrate the copier. Perform this adjustment on the media being used to print onto. Bright white (98-100) 24lb-28lb is recommended for plain paper over using 20lb bond for more accurate color reproduction. If the customer is using cardstocks perform adjustment on this as well. Generally 32lb-60lb cover is Heavy 1 and 61lb-80 cover is Heavy 2.

          3. Calibrate the Fiery RIP. Enter calibration mode on copier through Printer, Settings, Functions, calibration, enter Fiery.1 for the password and press OK. If you do not have a densitometer choose the Standard Color Cal Measurement page method under set-up.

😎_Use a clean Grey Scale positioned in the top center of the letter size portrait area of the platen glass. Press Calibrate and Yes to print the Measurement Page. Place printed page over the Grey Scale and press Yes and then done to measure.
After successful measurement press Yes to overwrite and to it affecting all users.

          4. Print out a Test Page and Configuration Page. Under Printer, Print Pages, Test Page the Configuration. After verifying print quality place these with the COMPLETED Service Log attached to the machine.

          5. Verify Customer Knowledge on Calibration Procedure. Ensure that the customer is aware of Steps 2 and 3 for increased quality/reliability and service time.

            Calibrate with ColorCal

            Calibrate the Fiery Server

You perform ColorCal calibration using the grayscale strip and the ColorCal measurement page.

For this procedure, you must have just printed the ColorCal measurement page in Calibrator and, optionally, prepared the scanner.

In Calibrator, under Get Measurements, click Measure.
Place the grayscale strip face down on the glass (platen) along the top edge of the glass so that it is centered along the top edge of the measurement page.
Place the ColorCal measurement page face down over the grayscale strip, as indicated on the ColorCal measurement page. Make sure that the patches on the grayscale strip do not overlap the color patches. Close the platen glass cover, being careful not to move the grayscale strip and color measurement page.
Click Continue to start the ColorCal measurement.
            Click OK to complete calibration.
To apply the measurement data to the Fiery Server, click Apply.
            To close Calibrator, click Done.

Take another look at the page the Fiery prints, at the top there is the "ghost" image of the grayscale you need to place there, in front of the printed page.

The grayscale allows the scanner to see what is the correct gray and then compare it to what is printed :-)
