    Canon Advance C5550i

Been a Canon tech for years---Canon was the first brand I was factory trained on way back in 1992 . But noticing quite a price hike on repair / maintenance parts in newer Advance series machines. Maybe Canon is leaning toward a replace copier strategy rather that maintain/repair strategy now. Examples of typical fuser rebuild prices and xfer cleaning unit prices below:

Prices for parts are extremely high compared to previous models

    C5255 cleaning unit $70
    C5550i cleaning unit $175

(same cleaning blade inside FM4-7246-010 BLADE, TRANSFER CLEANING and units look very similar)

    C5255 FM3-5950-020 Fixing Film unit $300
    C5550i FM1-N254-000 Fixing Film unit $900

    C5255 FC0-5061 pressure roller $60
C5550i Fm1-n252-000 Pressure roller $260 (they look almost identical)

Question-----can the older style parts be used in the newer series Advance copiers? Obviously we replace the transfer blade , since they are the same instead of the entire cleaning unit.
But what about the pressure roller and film unit.
Just curious if anyone has tried/compatibility of interchanging those parts.
(In the interest of trying to keep the customers repair cost down)

    Responses appreciated.

Cleaning blade is the same, but the Fixing film unit and pressure roller is NOT the same!!!

In fixing unit you can change just FILM (is the same ADVC52xx series)

Thanks for replying----yes, I am aware that they use the same fixing film. I suspect that the lower roller may be the same also. Maybe I'll take the time to compare the old and new lower rollers. The heating element inside the film unit is probably completely different.
