Re: IRA6055 Line on prints
Nice call Canuck! I blew out the light path from the slit glass down to the drum. I also pulled the laser again and cleaned the mirror inside with a glass cleaner because I thought I could see spots that hadn't come off when I dry wiped it. Line gone. Going to monitor it so I don't get disappointed. Thanks Canuck for your help. Thanks also Subaro!
Thank you for posting your results. High marks.THE ONLY THING FOR EVIL TO TRIUMPH IS FOR GOOD MEN TO DO NOTHING..........edmund burkeComment

just want to check if cleaning the lsu and slit glass would solve a black line issue. I thought it would solve a white line issue. This fix just blows me away, but if it did solve the problem, what is there to be said. If the line was random, I can see a failing lsu causing random lines, but not the line in the same position all the time.
I can see with copy from the adf causing that as the slit glass or the white strip with dirt. Also, if the paper is being fed letter and not letter R, then the line that also goes through the void area would occur as pointed out.
The best way to check those print is to do the internal print check from the service mode and use that as the reference as to see the problem solved.
In this business, you see all kinda fix that just looks like magic and its make you wonder.THE ONLY THING FOR EVIL TO TRIUMPH IS FOR GOOD MEN TO DO NOTHING..........edmund burkeComment

Re: IRA6055 Line on prints
I hear you. As far as I know, when you block the laser, or part of it, there not supposed to be any image on that part of the print, cause the drum has no charge and therefore toner would not be attracted to it. Unless, Canon has a different theory of the print cycle, then black not suppose to be there. I will have to look into that. It seems strange though. It just came to my mind, as to why you got black print, and therefore ask the question. Good to know anyways.
I am going to block the laser on a machine I am working on right now and see the result again, though I am sure it suppose to be blank.
I just confirmed my theory on a lexmark mfp. Unless Cannon machines has a different technology, then when you block part of laser the output should be blank, not black. I downloaded the service manual for this machine and I will look into it later.
Thanks Brian for the feedback. I am just curious to why the black prints when you block the laser. In fact or future, you could block the entrance of the drum where the laser projects, it is easier this way and is the same as blocking the laser.THE ONLY THING FOR EVIL TO TRIUMPH IS FOR GOOD MEN TO DO NOTHING..........edmund burkeComment
