IR C5240A prints magenta instead of black

Yikes! I have a IRc5240A that will not print black, black is replaced with magenta. Even printing an internal counter page prints magenta. Two color option prints the other color and magenta. All other colors print, obviously full color is incorrect without black. Does anyone have any idea what could be the cause?

Silly question but have your checked there isn't a mag toner in the black slot? Or somehow a mag dv unit in the black position ?

No, that is not the case or even possible. The image is perfect and single color magenta. I am hoping someone has had a similar issue and knows which board would control which laser unit the data would be sent to. It doesn't seem to be a corruption in the data, just the laser unit doing the writing.

Yes it's possible. I have had color toners (smaller diameter tube)jammed into 5240 series machines in the black position. Mag in Black and I had the identical issue. Black was magenta until I put black toner and ran tons of Test 5 pages of blsck. I thought they would error out also, but I have seen it a few times on this series. But you might have a different issue. What do Test 5 of each color look like? 5 minutes to pull procees unit out, remove black drum and peak at its dev cylinder. If good try some Ram clears. Shouldn't be too hard to narrow down

Well there it is.... I am thankful for your advice, they did put magenta toner into the black toner hole. Another lesson for the archives.

Glad you didn't go down the route of ordering boards & lasers etc.

If you fit the correct toners back & run full say 50 duplex full colour prints / copies it should 'flush out' the mag toner from black.
