    Canon IR 2020i

I'm working on one of these copiers. Customer called with misfeeding trouble saying paper starts out of the tray and stops. I found that this happens only on the lower cassette which I understand or believe it's an accessory part. Upper tray and by-pass have no problems. I notice that the half moon pf pulleys are not in their correct home position when I pull the cassette drawer out to remove paper. Paper starts to feed in then stops. Is this a primary feed issue??? What controls the primary half-moon pf pulley timing??? I was told that a tech before me came in and did in fact separate the lower cassette from the rest of copier but whatever work was performed did not solve the problem. As I stated in a earler thread on this copier I did find a piece of broken plastic in the cassette drawer that has the problem but could not tell where it came from. Thanks!!!

There is a drive clutch when you take off the back cover ove the copier. Part# FK2-1068 This clutch tends to work fine when feeding out of the upper drawer. But when you feed out of the lower drawer a solenoid engages in the lower cassett feed. Which causes a drag on this clutch because of all the excessive gears turning. The lower casset gets its drive from this clutch. I have taken them apart and cleaned them but that fix is only temporary. If you remove the clutch do not attempt to unplug it at the clutch. (You will rip the wires out) follow the wires to the Controler PCB.
