Does this happen when scanning B/W?
    Is the scanning glass clean?

The glass was cleaned, replaced. It appears in either B/W or Color

The sample picture has a couple of dots. One is almost dead center and the other is towards the left. They are both in the clouds.

Cant really sees it from here . Have you try scanning thru platten glass and any spots detected?

If they're in the same spot every time you scan I'd run a clean,lint-free cloth across the surface of the CS unit AND the underside of the scan glass.

The spots move with same original. If you pick up and replace they move. If you place fingertips on back of copy the spost will change to where your fingers are. Customer states problem did not occur until just recently.
