    Hi! anybody ever tried using scan to file (Universal Send Kit) on a
    computer connected to a domain with a windows server 2008.

    I have done this on a normal workgroup on other customers with no problem
    and this is my 1st time doing it on domain type network.any tips / guidelines
    for me to check? thanks!

    just make sure you have a user with enough rights and a password that never expires - check this by logging onto a workstation first - as they amount of times i have been given duff info from i.t support and you find an'o' is a '0' (for example) - also DONT rely on paths always try to browse to the foldedr to prove its valid and make sure you havent been given a hidden share($) as you'll never find it(why do i.t people do that?)

      Agreed it's always best to browse to the file location, if all else fails you can setup a new shared folder in the directory and then browse to it. You can create a new user if you can't easily get an existing account info, or if you are unfamiliar on how to do it, I'm sure their IT guy can setup an account in a matter of seconds.

      I only setup hidden shares for files that need more security than just limited access rights. i.e porn, backups of company files, etc

        when I try to browse using the browse function on scan to file(smb) the machine doesn't seem to find the computers(domain). other function can be used such as printing and pull scanning. I also can ping the computers from the machine and vice versa.
        I've read that a few tweaks are needed on the server to make the scan to file work.

          The only other thing i could think of if its failing to send the file, is that the server has SMB signing enabled. SMB signing insures the integrity of the packets in that they have not been modified from their original state. It does not encrypt the packets. What you can try is to disable the server digitally sign communications(always) only which still will allow those computers that can use SMB signing to use it but not force non capable operating systems/devices from using it.

          In the Domain Controllers GPO

          Computer Configuration->Windows Settings->Security Settings->Local
          Policies->Security Options->Microsoft Network Server:

          Digitally Sign Communications (Always) (Enabled by default on 2003 not sure on 2008) change to disable
