    ir7200 toner density adjustments

    Peculiar problem with an ir7200....

When printing the toner field is light. Coverage is even, but not dark, rich black like it should be.

However, when copying from the glass/ADF, the operator can adjust Print Desity (on LCD UI) to maximum black/density, and then the image is just fine.

    Looking in Service>Copier>Adjust>Density it is at 9 (range 1 ~ 9)

Turning on/off PO doesn't make a lick of difference.

Removing and looking at the DV unit, the toner seems fairly light coverage when spin by hand. Wondering if the gap should be manually adjusted on the DV?

    Some other reset perhaps?

Here are 3 reasons to consider.
    Primary ,for charging.
    Developer.
    Transfer.

Your density level is to high, it should be at like 5.
Potential control should be on as well.

Try replacing those coronas assy's first.

Make sure you check that the toner save setting isn't on. I can't think of where it is at the moment, but had that do what you are describing on a 105 before.

ALso makesure you using genuine toner. Or good quality toner if you using compact toner.

Screwtape, I restrung the corona's even though they weren't yet due. It made no difference. The density was at 5 and I moved it up to see if it changed things, however it made no perceptible difference. I can move it back down I suppose.

Totoro and Matoku, Toner Save is OFF (under printer settings on UI) and we have fresh toner. Went so far as to clean out DV of 'old' toner to eliminate it as a cause. Environmentally, temp and humidity are fine.

The developer only has about 75k on it - the issue may have popped up after a firmware update - but we can't narrow that down exactly.

Any other ideas? Thanks for the input!

Have you tried adjusting the heigth of the primary carona wire?
Also the developers on this series are always light when they are new and get darker as the get broken in. I agree with your statement that the developer roller looks light with toner on it as that is normal as well.
You stated that firmware was upgraded. Did you double check door specs on the machine.
You may also want to pull the front cover off of the drum area where the trans/sep cams into place and make sure it is caming up properly. If it is not that can cause your light images as well.
Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.

maybe the problem is at the paper. check whether your paper is damp.

try to copy with blank paper, then use the output paper again for copying/printing.

output paper wont damp anymore after passing the fixing unit

                Hi Sir,
Looking at your sitution ,your blur print on IR7200 HAS TO DUE TO WRONG TONER.I too has this type of problem twice. This is what I did.Remove the old toner from the bottle and developing unit.Overhall the developing unit and polish the cyclinder with spirit .Add original toner BOTH THE BOTTLE AND a little bit in the developing.Run*2 8*,function and install toner. It should be okay.

Yeh!! David you are right! If test print coming from service mode then it defitnely not the toner issue.I doubt it could also be charge block problem.Sorry on this one,cos I have not encounter this type of problem. My case is copied from the test chart only

                    regards
