Universal Send Scan to Mac OSX

    Hey guys,

I got a customer with an IRC3220 running 2 Mac OSX workstations in a closed network loop w/ the copier. Mac's are connected wirelessly to an Airport for their internet connection and i used their Built-in Ethernet connections to connect to a switch along with the Canon for printing via IP.

The machine has Universal Send. They use their ISP as their email provider.

    1. Can i use the email feature?
    2. Can i scan to the workstations using Universal Send.

I'm aware of the Remote Scan software but they paid for Universal Send now it's up to me to get it working. I'm not a MAC guy so i'm kind of under the gun a bit and have to get them some answers.

    It's a deal breaker.

    Thanks for any help!

Some scan to email settings requires an on site smtp server so im not sure if you can get that feature to work. theres a chance you can get the isp to give you their smtp server ip or host name and that may work if they allow incoming on port 25 but thats gonna require a phone call.

On the scan to pc side im not familure with universal send but typically a usb connection is best. to send over a network you may need to program ip's or host names of the pc's into the scanner board.

If i read your post correctly they have basically two networks one wireless for internet access and a hard wire one for connecting to the printer. If this is true unless the switch is connected to the internet provider then the machine cannot email anything. As to scanning to the mac I believe it can be done using the IP of the mac and defining access for the machine to a shared folder on the mac. Not a mac guy but I know it can be done some how. I have a tech who has several in a printshop and they scan the customer job in for editing. I will see if I can find out how.

By the way network scan gear is not supported on the MAC.

does the machine have a fiery or imagepass server?

        hi,
The univeral send can send e-mail to mac( as it is os independent) you just need the smtp mail server(name or IP address of the ISP) and a e-mail addresses. For scan to mac shared folder you need to enable windows file sharing on the mac (Only OSX) . Then you can created a shared foler and a user account. Then you just need to browse function on the copier to set the address.
