What does canram mean on a fujitsu hard drive for a Canon IR3100c

This Fujitsu hard drive I ordered from canon is a 40 gig eidi drive which they charged me $335.00 unformated a newer model 80 gig is only $99.00 did i get ripped of or the does the Canram label on the drive mean anything special?? thanks

Yep, Canon likes to make money selling HDD's. CanRam is just a model name I think because I've put CanRam HDD's in Ricoh's and Sharp's. What you're paying for is the ability for SST to recognize the HDD to load firmware.

any of these old refurbished/some new if lucky 40g HDD's u find online will work in your model
